Arthur D. Ettinger

With twenty-five years of experience, Arthur is widely known as one of the most effective divorce and family law practitioners in the New York metropolitan area.

Arthur advises clients in all aspects of matrimonial and family law, including complex financial and custody issues. He is accomplished in successfully negotiating settlements as well as litigating and taking matters to trial when an amicable resolution is not possible. Arthur is also a certified MLB agent, advising players in contract negotiations and representing athletes in various legal matters.

Arthur has built a reputation of being an aggressive advocate that is sensitive to his clients’ needs and concerns. He understands the impact a divorce can have on a family. Arthur delivers high-level service to his clients, with a personalized, compassionate dedication. While most of his time is spent negotiating and litigating high conflict matters, one of the greatest highlights of Arthur’s career was representing a same-sex couple in one of the first filed second parent adoption parentage petitions in New York State.

Arthur has established himself as a leader in the field of family law. Prior to forming SELW with his long-time friends and colleagues, Arthur was the Chair of the Matrimonial and Family Law Department of Greenspoon Marder’s New York office. Arthur is the author of Lexis/Nexis practice guide titled, New York Matrimonial Actions. He has consistently been recognized as a leading family law attorney by his peers in Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers and has been recognized as a “Trailblazer” in family law by The National Law Journal.

Realizing that there was a lack of content for individuals either going through or contemplating divorce, in 2020, Arthur launched the podcast titled “Close To The Vest”, focused on relationship and divorce related issues.
